JDC on the Web
JDC98 UPDATE.2 (Aug. 10, 1998)
The Japan Documentation Center invites you to visit its home page
(http://lcweb.loc.gov/rr/jdc) and look through the latest additions to the document database. We add approximately 100-150 items each month to this fully searchable web-file, with the last update having been done at the end of
July.
Examples:
- A poll on diplomacy [Gaiko ni kansuru chosa] / Prime Minister's
Office.
J1997-30750
- A proposal for an electronic information disclosure act [Denshi joho
kokaiho no teigen] / Japan Civil Liberties Union. J1997-30739
- Materials regarding social security [Shakai hosho kankei shiryo] /
Ministry of Finance. J1997-30735
For those who are less familiar with the project at the Library of Congress,
we collect current public policy materials from Japan and create records for
the searchable database. Most of the collection is in Japanese. We create a
detailed English abstract for each item to help you identify those materials that are
useful for your research. By scanning the original texts and storing the image
files, we can provide print-outs to you, the researcher, quickly and efficiently upon
request. Areas covered include economics, trade, politics and foreign
relations, industry, the environment, and social conditions.
The JDC also subscribes to a wide range of journals and newspapers. The
list of journals can be seen on our home page. Particularly useful for
government reports are:
- Keizai Seisaku Joho
- Seifu Kankobutsu Geppo
- Seifu Shiryo Abusutorakuto (Monthly Government Abstracts)
- Gekkan Seifu Shiryo (Monthly Government Data)
- Gekkan Nyu Porishi
We also subscribe to the newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (Business and
Technology). We can provide information to you if you have specific
citations of the issues and dates or of the articles.
The JDC staff provide assistance to researchers throughout the world. Due
to copyright restrictions, you are not able to view the full texts on the web.
Nevertheless, we can provide you hard copies of the texts and other
requested information (at no charge) usually within a week after we receive your
request.
The Japan Documentation Center staff look forward to hearing from you.
