Japanese Cinema Studies in the Rear View Mirror: Re-Viewing the Discipline

On March 26-28, 1999 a workshop was held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to discuss the state of Japanese film studies. Papers were distributed in advance, and participants used their respective papers to approach a wide variety of issues bearing on the study of Japanese moving image media.
