This FAQ summarizes some of the basic commands you can use as a KineJapan subscriber. If at all possible, use these commands yourself to alter your subscription status. Only contact the owners when you have a problem in successfully executing these commands. Do not ever send requests to be taken off the list, etc., to the entire list: that is a bother to all the subscribers.
For all of the cases below, leave the subject line of your message blank and do not sign the message.

Does KineJapan have an archive of old messages?
KineJapan is a form of electronic publication. Posts to it are like published articles and can be cited by others in their publications (the rules of citation apply here as well). As a publication, we keep an archive of past messages that subscribers can access, though at this time, it is not that easy. There are plans in the works to create a user-friendly web interface.
Currently the archive looks like:
Archive: kinejapan (path: kinejapan) -- Files:
log9705 (1 part, 319915 bytes) -- test kinejapan
log9706 (1 part, 195967 bytes) -- Re: Amateurs/documentary
All files for one month are collected together under the title of the first message of the month.
To GET a specific file from the archive after you have received a list of files either through the INDEX or the SEARCH commands, send the following message to listproc@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu:
get kinejapan <file>
For example: get kinejapan log9705
You can also SEARCH the archive by sending the following message to listproc@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu:
search kinejapan -all "<pattern>"
For example: search kinejapan -all "Aoyama"
This gives you a list of all the files with "Aoyama" in the title. You can also use the operators '|' and '&' to indicate OR and AND when specifying the search perameters.
How do I get information about KineJapan subscriber options?
To obtain a copy of the basic information on KineJapan (basically the text you are reading now), send the following message to listserver@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu:
